40th Annual St. Patrick's Parade in Wilmington

We have a wide variety of great heritages to celebrate in Downtown Wilmington - and we're proud of all of them, but every March we love to see a green line painted on King Street and a great celebration of Irish culture for St. Patrick's Day.

This year marked the 40th Annual St. Patrick's Parade organized by the Irish Culture Club of Delaware.

Here's just a small sample from the parade

Telling visitors about Downtown Wilmington

I recently had the chance to spend some time with Gail Kasper and the good people at theBrandywine Visitor's Channel talking about how great Downtown Wilmington is for dining, arts, and entertainment.

Visitors who stay in our great hotels in the area will be able to watch the feature in their hotel rooms.

Please feel free to help spread the word about how great our city is for all who work, play, live, and visit Downtown Wilmington.

Inspiration at the Wilmington Library

Amazing things happen when people are provided the tools to express their creativity in a variety of ways.

Fortunately, we have a truly impressive collection of resources available right here in Downtown Wilmington.

As Alta Porterfield and Carl Shaw explain, the Wilmington Library's Inspiration Space has everything from video cameras and green screens to 3D printers for anyone to use to create great things.

Do yourself a favor, go to the Wilmington Library and check out the Inspiration Space - tell them Marty send you.

One Million Cups in Wilmington

The entrepreneurial spirit is growing throughout our city, and our friends at Delaware Technical and Community College have a weekly gathering where everyone is welcome to experience that growth.

The gathering is called 1 Million Cups and it was started by the Kaufman Foundation. Here's the description from the foundation:

1 Million Cups (1MC) is a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in communities around the world. Each week, the 1MC program offers two local entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their startups to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors, and entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses, gather realtime feedback, connect with a community that truly cares about their progress, and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations. Whether this is through passively listening or deeply engaging with the entrepreneurs, there is much to learn every week from these dynamic and diverse communities.

Here's Del Tech's Paul Morris with more:
