Please join the downtown business community on Tuesday, May 10 at the Baby Grand as we celebrate our upcoming "Summer in the City" - trust me, this will be a great event!
Downtown Wilmington Celebrates Shakespeare Day
Lunchtime on Market Street on Friday provided a real treat as the Delaware Shakespeare Festival coordinated a production of all of Shakespeare's plays in under an hour using more than 50 people from our community.
All of this took place in front of The Grand Opera House - and I would dare say we had participation from people from all walks of life and all of our great communities - artists, musicians, attorneys, business leaders, young, not so young, students, professionals, and more!
I am proud of our vibrant arts community in Wilmington - and I am proud that Downtown Visions helped sponsor and support this event.

New restaurant opens on Market Street
If there's one thing I love about being in Downtown Wilmington, it's the great variety of choices we have for food - whether you're in the mood for Italian, Mexican, Chilean, Chinese, or Ethiopian food, we have it!
This week, Masala Kitchen opened its doors to serve incredibly flavorful vegetarian Indian food - I highly recommend trying the Mix Pakora.
Jaysheel Bhavsar said he and his team are excited to be located in Downtown Wilmington and want to make sure everyone gets to try their food.
All I can say is that I am thrilled to have Masala Kitchen as part of our Downtown family - oh, and you should really try the ice cream here, it's like nothing you've had before.

Great Downtown Business Featured in Out & About
The April issue of Out & About magazine really is packed with great articles about businesses and events in Wilmington.
One of those articles features Delaware's only tea shop - Levitea
Here's an excerpt:
Accolades are quickly building for the establishment. Last year, Levitea won a “Best of Delaware” award from Delaware Today, and the Green Room at the Hotel du Pont features a variety of its teas each month. Soon, the shop will offer teas to-go by the ounce, and an online store will be up and running, along with a blog. And this summer, Lomax promises bubble tea.

I am proud of all of our Downtown Wilmington businesses and the success they are creating.

We're honored to be covered
The April Issue of Out & About Magazine is filled with great stories about exciting things happening in Downtown Wilmington.
We are also honored to be featured in one of the articles this month, here's an excerpt:
Downtown Visions recently expanded its business development efforts by partnering with the city’s Economic Development office and another nonprofit, the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation, to create the Wilmington Storefront Project. This initiative identifies available retail locations in the downtown business district and assists businesses desiring to locate there by providing grants of up to $25,000 to fit out their shops as well as support their marketing and social media efforts.
The program has helped about 30 businesses so far, Hageman says.
Even with 21 new businesses opening downtown last year, more retail is needed to complement the recent growth of residential properties along Market Street, he says. “We want the world to know that downtown Wilmington is open for business,” he says.

I am appreciative of all of the recognition Downtown Visions has been receiving, but I want everyone to know how much of that recognition is earned by the men and women who work here at Downtown Visions as well as to the entrepreneurs, business leaders, artists, residents, and visitors who make Downtown Wilmington such a vibrant and exciting place.
