Free Holiday Parking

Mayor Mike Purzycki and Department of Finance Director Patrick Carter also remind citizens that the City of Wilmington’s holiday season parking meter policy will be in effect from Friday, November 23, through Monday, December 31, 2018. To support holiday shopping during this period, from Noon to 6:00 p.m. each weekday, the City will not require payment at parking meters in the Downtown Business District (defined as the area bounded by 2nd Street to 12th Street, and by French Street to Washington Street) and in the Riverfront Business District. Official holidays such as Christmas Day (December 25) remain free all day. A two-hour parking limit will remain in effect, however.

Exceptions to this temporary parking policy involve streets designated as “tow-away zones,” where no stopping is allowed at those meters at the times posted. All applicable traffic regulations, other than those requiring payment at parking meters, will be enforced, including time-limited parking (two-hour or one-hour parking as designated by signage) or overtime parking, bus stops, fire hydrants, double-parking and parking too close to pedestrian crosswalks, etc.

The Buccini/Pollin Group Teams up with Downtown Visions to Beautify Downtown Wilmington During their Day of Service

The Buccini/Pollin Group Day of Service 2018

Helping to keep Downtown Wilmington clean is a key mission for Downtown Visions. Our Cleaning Ambassadors supplement the services of the City of Wilmington to provide premium cleaning results. This ensures that Wilmington remains a neat, welcoming environment each and every morning. Last year, our Cleaning Ambassadors removed more than 214 tons of litter (that's 428,000 pounds!) and removed graffiti from more than 200 locations!

Buccini/Pollin Group Day of Service 2018

On October 26th, one of our downtown corporate neighbors, The Buccini/Pollin Group took an entire day to serve the community at various locations within the city. A group of associates teamed up with Downtown Visions and helped the team beautify the city by painting light poles, doors and buildings. A fresh coat of paint can do wonders and make Wilmington a brighter, happier place for all those who live, work and play here.

Buccin/Pollin Group Day of Service

Martin Hageman, Executive Director of Downtown Visions was grateful for the extra hands. “I want to offer my sincere thanks to BPG and their employees for volunteering for a day of service. This group took time from their busy days to work side by side with Downtown Visions employees. Together they spruced up Shipley Street from 4th. Street to 9th Street by applying a new coat of paint to all building doors and light posts. This painting provided a clean, fresh appearance to Shipley Street. The Buccini/Pollin Group can always be counted on to be a good neighbor to our Downtown and our City.”
