Downtown Wilmington Farmers Market

Ever since the weather started getting warmer, I've been approached by many people wanting to know when the Downtown Wilmington Farmers Market was going to start up for the season.

Rodney Square Farmers Market

I'm very pleased to say that we're getting things started this Wednesday - and you might want to come out at noon to learn more about some special events we have planned for this Summer.

Also, here's my friend Tucker Casey talking about the great successes we're enjoying with the Farmers Market:

I hope to see you at the Farmers Market!

Luxury Living Downtown

Today's News Journal has a great story about 231 luxury apartments coming to Downtown Wilmington.

Here's some excerpts:

Spread over two high-rise buildings, the Residences at Midtown Park will take over the former sites of Mid-Town Parking Garage, Ninth Street Books and other retail stores. The development will occupy most of the block bounded by Ninth, Orange, Eighth and Shipley streets
...
downtown supporters hope the creative district, a 25-block area bounded by Fourth, Ninth, Market and Washington streets will increase the city's tax base, foster a built-in audience for more than 50 cultural institutions in the wider area, reduce crime and create jobs.

I am thrilled that more people are going to have the opportunity to live in our Downtown and enjoy all we have to offer in arts and entertainment!
